Burn Care Day 2022

Burn Care Foundation (BCF), a social unit of NEMCARE Hospital has been engaged in development of Burn Care in the North Eastern states since its inception. Through its Burn Unit it has been providing quality care to the burn victims. Because of the quality care, many seriously injured burn victims have also been able to live normal life now. BCF has also organized Public Awareness Programs for common people, School Education Programs for the students and Training Programs on Essential Burn Care for the doctors and paramedics in various parts of North East in the past.
                 
It is a matter of concern that burn injured patients is yet to get the due attention they deserve from all concerned. In order to draw attention of the poor plight of burn injured patients and to make people aware of the First Aid, Prevention of burn accidents and also to let them know that burn injured patients can live a dignified life provided proper care is made available to them in proper time, Burn Care Foundation, has been organizing Burn Care Day every year since 2015.  
                  
The 8th   Burn Care Day 2022 was organized as a day long program at Madhabdev Auditorium, Srimanta Shankardev Kalakshetra,Guwahati on 11 February 2022from 9-30 AM onwards. The Inaugural Session was graced by Dr. Sunil Keswani, Plastic & Burn Surgeon & Director, National Burn Centre, Mumbai, as the Chief Guest. A talk on Prevention and First Aid in Burns was delivered by him.  An audio-visual presentation on problems of Burn patients and the advanced management available in the Burn Unit of BCF, was presented by Dr Bhupendra Prasad Sarma, Secretary, Burn Care Foundation. Dr Nareswar Sarma gave details of “Arta Sewa” a trust formed to help the poor and needy patients. The other highlights of the Day were participation by the Burn Survivors and narration of their experience and address by Dr Ajay Kr. Thakur from Shillong and Dr Siddhartha Bhattacharjee from Silchar.
                
In the afternoon a Training program of Essential Burn Care was organized, The session was chaired by Dr Rabin Majumdar, Sr Consultant Surgeon, Marowari Hospital Guwahati. Dr. Sunil Keswani from Mumbai, Dr Ajay Thakur from Shillong, Dr Siddhartha Bhttacharjee from Silchar, Dr Baibhav Bhisikar from   Guwahati Medical College, Dr Nareswar Sarma, Dr Kabita S Choudhury, Dr B P Sarma and Ms V S  Malingwan, from NEMCARE Hospitals were the faculties in the training program.. The Training program also continued on 12 February 2022 at NEMCARE Hospital. This program was in collaboration with INTERBURNS.
