Burn Care Foundation organizes Burn Care Day

Burn Care Foundation, A Trust of NEMCARE Hospital, organized the 10th Burn Care Day 2024 as a day long program at Madhabdev Shankardev Kalakshetra Auditorium on 11 February 2024. The Inaugural Session was graced by Mr Mayur Borah, Eminent Social activist and orator , as the Chief Guest, Dr Ashok Puranik, Eminent Trauma Surgeon and Executive Director AIIMS, Guwahati, as the Guests of Honour and Dr. Prabhat Srivastava , Prof & Head Dept of Plastic Surgery , MoulanaAZad Medical College, New Delhi as the Chief Guest Speaker. A talk on Prevention and First Aid in Burns was delivered by Dr Prabhat Srivastava.

The session started with the welcome address by Dr Hitesh Baruah, President of Burn Care Foundation. An audio-visual presentation on problems of Burn patients and the changes that have come because of availability of advanced treatment of burns in the Burn Unit, was presented by Dr Bhupendra Prasad Sarma, Secretary, Burn Care Foundation. He also informed that a total of 5550 patients have been treated in the burn unit since 2010 and the mortality have been reduced to 23.9% because of advanced treatment . Dr Nareswar Sarma gave details of “Arta Sewa” a trust formed to help the poor and needy patients. The other highlights of the Day were participation by the Burn Survivors and narration of their experience as burn injured patients. In the meeting Dr Seema ReKah Devi, Former Prof & Head of Plastic Surgery Dept. of Guwahati Medical college was conferred with Kanaklata Das Memorial Award for her service to rehabilitation of the Burn victims. Ms Achuna Kamei, Senior Nurse, Sri Samarendra Rajbangshi, Technician and Ms Mamani Bezbaruah and Ms Junika Guria, Nursing Assistants of NEMCARE Burn Unit, were given best workers award in the meeting. The meeting ended with the vote of thanks, offered by Dr Mihir Kumar Baruah, Executive Officer of NEMCARE Hospital.
